Canada: Malt exports in August-January 2021/22 almost in line with past years

Canadian malt exports in August 2021-January 2022 were 250 thousand tonnes, almost in line with past years, H. M. Gauger GmbH said in their April report.

Major destinations were the U.S. importing 150 thousand tonnes, Mexico 41 thousand and Japan 40 thousand tonnes.

There were no more barley purchases reported beyond the known 180 thousand tonnes to Canada and the USA. The market expects temporary malthouse shutdowns in summer.
